There are basically four things you need to know from the Bible to have the assurance that when you die, you will go to Heaven.
1. GOD LOVES YOU
John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
As one of the most recognizable verse tells us, clearly God loves you! When the world and its inhabitants are not very lovely in the least, the Bible makes it clear God loves us, not for who we are, or what we have done. But because it is “Who He is!”
2. EVERYONE IS A SINNER
Romans 3:23 says, “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;” The reason that we “come short” of God’s glory is because we are sinners, because “All have sinned…” “All” includes you and me. To be saved, you must first agree with the Bible that you are a sinner.
3. SIN MUST BE PAID FOR
Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. The wages of sin is death.
II Corinthians 5:21 says, “For he hath made him (Jesus Christ) to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.” Sin must be paid for, and Christ Jesus became our sin.
God treated His Son like a sinner so that we as sinners could become His sons. John 1:12 says, “But as many as received him (Jesus Christ), to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name.”
4. THE GOOD NEWS
Romans 5:8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. The Good News, while you and I were the sinner, God loves you enough to give Jesus as that payment.
5. EVERYONE CAN BE SAVED
Romans 10:9 says, “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved”.
If you believe Jesus died for you and rose again, you can call on Him right now to pardon you from sin and Hell and give you a home in Heaven.
